Gavi takes step closer to Barcelona return after pitch session with Pedri | OneFootball

Gavi has moved a step closer to his long-awaited Barcelona comeback, offering relief in a season blighted by injuries.

According to MD, the 21-year-old trained on the pitch alongside Pedri on Wednesday, a further milestone in his recovery.

The midfielder has been out since knee surgery in September. His return was pencilled in for four or five months, and the timeline remains on track.

If all goes well, he could rejoin full training in the next couple of weeks, then seek the medical green light. The hope is that he could feature against Levante on 22 February, and Hansi Flick has stressed he will not take risks.

His comeback would aid Barcelona as fixtures pile up. They are one point clear of Real Madrid in La Liga, and have reached the Champions League last 16 and the Copa del Rey semi-finals in recent weeks.

The exact date of his return is still to be determined, but he is approaching the final stretch of his recovery and could be back soon.
