Barcelona midfielder Gavi made his long-awaited return to international football in Spain’s Nations League semi-final victory over France.

The two shared a heartfelt moment after the final whistle, embracing on the pitch and exchanging shirts, a gesture that did not go unnoticed by fans and the media.

A bond still so strong

In a recent interview, Gavi had spoken warmly about Dembele. “For me, Ous has to be in the top three for the Ballon d’Or,” he said.

“He’s like a brother to me and an amazing player. I’ve always believed in him. And if one of us wins it, either him or Lamine, it will be a dream.”

That mutual respect was on full display after the game. Gavi, still wearing Dembele’s name and number on the front of his swapped shirt, paid tribute to the PSG star, who in turn holds deep admiration for the young Spaniard.

The bond between them has remained strong, even after Dembele’s move to Paris.

Back in March, Dembele had shown support for Gavi when the midfielder was facing a dip in form. He posted a photo with Gavi on Instagram, which at the time sparked rumours that the Barça youngster might be tempted to follow him to PSG.

However, the moment last night showed this was more about friendship than transfer speculation.
