Genoa 4th kit pays tribute to Boca Juniors historic bond | OneFootball

Genoa have unveiled a surprising choice for their 2024-25 season fourth kit, making it an homage to Argentina’s Boca Juniors, which was founded by emigrants from the Italian port city.

The Grifone announced the jersey, which was designed by kit sponsors Kappa, celebrating the historic bond between the two clubs.

There are many Italians who emigrated to Argentina, so the presentation was held in the Museum of Italian Emigration in Genoa.

This kit marks the 120th anniversary of the foundation of Boca Juniors, nicknamed the Xeneizes, as it was originally put together by Genoese emigrants in the La Boca area of Buenos Aires.

The jersey includes the term ‘Zeneixi’ on the collar, a mixture between the Genoese dialect and Argentinean way of saying Boca’s nickname – which really means ‘Genoese.’

There was also a video made to celebrate the launch of this very special kit, which might look at first glance to be a Boca jersey, until seeing the Grifone badge.

Bizarrely, the club had also worked with WWE wrestler The Undertaker to launch their third kit.
