KAA Gent have signed a new defensive reinforcement in 22-year-old Estonian, Maksim Paskotši. He joins from Grashopper Club Zürich, signing a contract until 2029.
Maksim Paskotši is an Estonian international. At just 22, he already has 37 caps to his name. He has also been a regular defensive presence for Grasshoppers over the past two seasons. Last weekend, Maksim played his final 90 minutes for the Swiss side. He aptly said goodbye to the supporters with a goal against Swiss giants, FC Basel.
Grashopper Club Zürich signed Paskotši from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, where he played three seasons with the youth team. The right-footed central defender also trained with the first team at Spurs.
Before that, Maksim played for two years in the youth academy of FC Flora Tallinn, one of the most successful clubs in Estonia.
Speaking to the club’s media team, Paskotši said, “This club is 125 years old, and it’s fantastic to be a part of it from now on. I can’t wait to get started, meet the fans, and be successful with the team.”
Sporting advisor, Kjeld Fort, spoke positively about the new boy, “Paskotši is the third addition to our defense after Es-Saoubi and Van der Heyden. He played more than 60 matches at the highest level in Switzerland and made a great progress with the national team. This is the next logical step for him.”
