Georginio Rutter chose a Leeds United game from before he signed as the match he would replay, a nod to how strongly he still feels about the club. According to Leedsunited.news, he answered on the Premier League’s YouTube channel.

He selected the dramatic 2-1 win over Norwich City in 2021-22. He recalled Raphinha rounding the goalkeeper before squaring for Joe Gelhardt to score in stoppage time during Jesse Marsch’s relegation battle.

It also carried extra historical weight, as Daniel Farke had been sacked by Norwich earlier that season before later becoming Leeds manager, with Rutter then a key figure for him.

After arriving as a club-record signing in January 2023, Rutter initially struggled. He flourished in 2023-24 and became pivotal as Leeds chased promotion under Farke.

He ended that season on eight goals and 16 assists in all competitions, with Leeds reaching the Championship play-off final. He often operated as the creative focal point.

He left for Brighton in summer 2024 in one of the biggest sales in Leeds history, alongside Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha. This season Brighton beat Leeds 3-0 and Rutter provided an assist, then apologised to Leeds fans, a reminder that the affection remains.
