Georgiy Sudakov appears to be entering a new phase at Benfica. According to Glorioso 1904, the Ukrainian midfielder posted a reflective message after a convincing display in the rout of St Gallen.

He shared a gallery on social media, captioning it with a pledge to choose calm over chaos. The images sat alongside lines about being at peace and unbothered, believing until you achieve it, dreaming big while working hard and staying humble, and that his effort is known to God.

The midfielder has endured a difficult spell in recent months, with physical problems, an injury that kept him out, and some emotional struggles. He needed time to recover and rediscover the level that earned his move to Benfica.

In July he said returning to competition without physical limitations, after around five months, was an important personal milestone. The latest signs look even more encouraging.

His showing against St Gallen has strengthened Marco Silva’s confidence. Sudakov was among the standouts in Benfica’s win and looked closer to his best. After the match, the head coach stressed he would not give up on the number 10, signalling firm belief in the midfielder’s recovery.
