In a significant development, it appears Jonathan Tah has finally made a decision on his future, as the Bayer Leverkusen star gears up to take the next step in his career.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Tah has made the decision to join Barcelona on a Bosman move in the summer of 2025.

This serves as a major boost for the Blaugrana, who have been pursuing the Leverkusen defender for quite a while now.

Meeting to happen soon

The report adds that there is a meeting scheduled soon involving the Barcelona representatives and Tah’s entourage.

The meeting will play a key role in helping Barça finalise the signing of the German international, who was under Hansi Flick’s wing during their time together at the Mannschaft.

The report further adds that Barcelona took advantage of their travel to Dortmund by holding a meeting with Tah’s agents there.

Barcelona must figure things out first

However, before Barcelona can proceed with the signing of Tah, Barcelona must figure out some things internally.

One of the primary responsibilities for Barcelona will be to reduce their depth in the defensive unit and determine which centre-backs will be a part of the team next season.

As things stand, Barcelona will have a stacked central defensive unit next season, consisting of Inigo Martinez, Pau Cubarsi, Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia and Ronald Araujo.

If everything goes well, Jonathan Tah will be a part of that lineup as well. Therefore, Barcelona must get rid of at least one of these centre-backs.

Christensen appears to be the most likely choice, especially considering the fact that the Dane was close to leaving the club in January.

Christensen’s sale could go a long way in helping Barcelona make the space in the team to accommodate Tah, who is set to become the club’s first signing of the 2025/26 season.
