Germany and Ghana will face off in another international friendly in Stuttgart on Monday as both nations continue their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
Germany goalkeeper Jonas Urbig has been replaced by Augsburg’s Finn Dahmen due to a knee injury, while Alexander Nübel is expected to start in goal as a “reward” for his performances.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha has also been ruled out with a knee injury, though Julian Nagelsmann is hopeful the problem will not affect his World Cup chances.
Germany is expected to rotate from the side that edged Switzerland, but core names such as Florian Wirtz, Jonathan Tah and Joshua Kimmich should keep their places.
Deniz Undav may be rewarded with a place in the team in his home stadium, while Lennart Karl and Anton Stach are candidates to step into the XI.
Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger could also come in for Nico Schlotterbeck, giving Nagelsmann another option at centre-back.
For Ghana, debut chances are on the table for Derrick Luckassen and Daniel Agyei after both were unused substitutes against Austria.
Marvin Senaya and Patric Pfeiffer earned their first caps in that match, while forwards Inaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante were absent because of injury, with Hamburg’s Yansford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer called up in attack.
Centre-back Alexander Djiku and midfielders Ibrahim Sulemana and Thomas Partey have returned to the squad for these friendlies. Tottenham winger Mohammed Kudus was not included, but he has returned to light training after a long-term hamstring issue.
Germany has been in excellent shape and arrives with strong momentum after their 4-3 win over Switzerland.
The DFB have framed this international break as the final stretch of meaningful preparation before the World Cup, and their recent results suggest Nagelsmann’s side is building confidence at the right time.
Ghana head into the game on the back of a difficult spell, including their 1-5 loss to Austria, although their overall path to World Cup qualification has been positive.
They booked their place at the tournament comfortably and will view this trip to Stuttgart as an opportunity to tighten up before the summer.
