Germany are set to welcome Luxembourg on Friday night in a vital FIFA World Cup qualifying match. Julian Nagelsmann’s team are aiming to recover from a less-than-impressive start to their qualifying campaign.
Nagelsmann is confronted with injury issues for this match, as several crucial players are sidelined. Real Madrid’s central defender, Antonio Rüdiger, is out with a hamstring injury, alongside Kai Havertz (knee) and Jamal Musiala (ankle), who are also unavailable.
Goalkeeper Oliver Baumann from Hoffenheim remains doubtful due to illness, potentially paving the way for Alexander Nübel or the uncapped Noah Atubolu. Nick Woltemade is back in contention after overcoming illness, and Kevin Schade has received a call-up as a replacement for Jamie Leweling, who is out with a groin problem.
A boost for Nagelsmann comes with the return of Nico Schlotterbeck, who is making a comeback after a lengthy six-month layoff caused by a serious knee injury. The Borussia Dortmund defender is expected to shore up Germany’s shaky defensive line, which has managed just seven clean sheets in their past 25 games.
Additionally, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown has earned his first call-up to the senior squad, while Aleksandar Pavlović rejoins the team after missing recent matches.
Predicetd Germany starting XI: Nubel; Anton, Tah, Koch; Schade, Kimmich, Goretzka, Raum; Gnabry, Wirtz; Woltemade.
The match will kick off at 7:45pm BST on Friday 10th October.
Supporters in the United Kingdom will be able to watch the encounter live via Amazon Prime PPV.
