Raphinha has left Brazil’s camp after asking to come off against Australia with thigh discomfort, and is returning to Barcelona for medical examinations. Mundo Deportivo report that the Barcelona captain told the club there was no reason for alarm and that his withdrawal was precautionary, but the tests will establish the extent of the problem and whether he can face Getafe.
The initial indications are reassuring, though Barcelona have not yet confirmed a diagnosis or cleared him to play. His assessment comes ahead of a demanding run of fixtures, making the immediate question whether the discomfort is minor enough for him to return to action without risk.

Raphinha
The club’s management and head coach Hansi Flick requested that Raphinha return to Catalonia so Barcelona’s medical staff could monitor him. The club is wary of the demands of the international break, including a journey of more than 40,000 kilometres, and of similar situations involving its Brazilian players during previous international windows.
Brazil’s schedule during the current period includes two matches against Australia and two against India. Raphinha’s return journey is expected to take almost a full day, adding to the delay before Barcelona can examine him. His importance to the side has grown alongside his resurgence under Hansi Flick, while his captaincy gives the fitness update added significance.
Raphinha’s leadership role at Barcelona is not new: he has also served as an interim captain. For now, however, the club’s focus is on understanding the physical issue rather than drawing conclusions from the circumstances of his withdrawal.
The reported plan is for Raphinha to have a full day of rest after arriving in Catalonia on Thursday, October 1, before undergoing decisive checks at the Joan Gamper training complex on Friday, October 2. Barcelona intend to proceed cautiously, with a gradual return to full team training after the examinations.
His availability for Getafe will depend on the results and on how he responds when he resumes group work. The club’s initial assessment is that the problem is not serious, but the medical checks are needed to confirm its extent and ensure it has not worsened during the long journey.
Getafe is the immediate target, but Barcelona’s planning also has to account for an away trip to Galatasaray, a Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain and El Clasico against Real Madrid. That sequence gives the club reason to avoid rushing Raphinha back if the examination or his return to training raises concerns.
The forward had been making a leading contribution to Barcelona’s early-season campaign before the Brazil withdrawal. His impact in the comeback against Sevilla underlined what the Blaugrana gain when he is available, but the decision on Getafe will rest on the medical findings rather than the demands of the calendar.
