Getafe boss praises Real Madrid and Mbappe – ‘Best in the world’ | OneFootball

Real Madrid’s first game after the international sees them take to the field at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, a venue known to be gruelling as a fortress.

Getafe’s start to the new season may not be spectacular, but it is clear that they are a force to reckon with at home and Xabi Alonso will have to tweak his dynamics if Real Madrid are to get past the team’s low block.

After all, they may well be without Kylian Mbappe and finding goals without the Frenchman’s killer instinct will not be easy.

Bordalas’ press conference

Speaking to the media, the hosts’ manager Jose Bordalas opened up and handed his thoughts on the matchup and surprisingly showered serious praise on Xabi Alonso’s men.

He began by calling the men in white the best team in the world and praising the manager.

“Real Madrid is still the best team in the world and each coach has his nuances. Xabi Alonso had a long career as a player. It’s true that as a coach it doesn’t take much time.”

“Everything he is doing is very positive. Everyone knows how much I love Carlo (Ancelotti).

“Now there is another coach and Real Madrid is still the best club in the world. And it will continue to be because it is so,” he added.

He was then asked what made it difficult to compete with a club like Real Madrid year after year, to which he said,

“The differences are getting bigger.”

“They reinforce themselves and sign very high-level players in all positions. They have a great team and it becomes much more difficult,” he added.

Bordalas then retained faith in his side and opened up on how his team were ready to take on the challenge.

“But maximum confidence. The team has worked phenomenally, with a lot of energy and despite the circumstances we have this season. We play at home with our fans. The team is energetic and excited.”

Praise for Mbappe

Praising Kylian Mbappe, who is enjoying a stunning start to his second season at the club, Bordalas said,

“Mbappe is a fantastic player and one of the best in the world.”

“He is in a moment of frankly good shape and we are watching game after game that it is very difficult to neutralise a player who has that talent, that speed and that instinct,” he added.

The manager also stated that his side would be wary of the other threats on the field even apart from Mbappe.

“But not only Mbappe, but also many Real Madrid players have that level. It’s very complicated. We have to play a great game.”

“We are aware of this, the players know it and we have to be prepared. We work according to the rival for each game to try to ensure that his performance is not the best,” he added.

Key to beat Real Madrid

Bordalas was then asked what the key was to beating Real Madrid in a game, and he admitted that there was no single easy path that could be identified.

“It’s worth every detail, don’t make mistakes and be reliable at a defensive level. Then, being bold and daring to try to hurt them, which is very difficult.”

“You have to play without fear and with shame, although we never know what can happen,” he added.

Commenting on the allure of playing Real Madrid and how it is a massive clash for not only the dressing room but the fans, he said,

“It is a game that is more attractive because of the level of the rival. Real Madrid has players of a very high level and any of them can turn the score with their talent.”

“Therefore, the most important thing is the whole and that we are at a maximum level. We’ll see what happens. The team is excited and alive,” he added.

Bordalas was then asked if his side would push for at least a draw against Real Madrid, to which he said,

“No coach signs that before a game. I don’t know any colleagues, and I’ve talked to many, because it’s never happened to me.”

“When I face a game, always with the utmost respect for the rival, I go out to try to win it,” he added.

He then admitted that while Real Madrid were superior, an upset could never be ruled out.

“That’s the beauty of football. We have seen surprising one-off results throughout the history of football. You don’t know if it’s a good time or not, but the team is excited.”

Finally, the manager was asked about Mario Martin who left Real Madrid to join Getafe on loan, to which he said,

“We are very happy with the boy. He has come with a lot of enthusiasm and is improving from the beginning. I talk to him a lot and try to correct aspects that he has to improve.”

“He gives us a lot of energy and has to control that they don’t take out cards because that limits.

“It happened to us in the last game because of that impetus, because of that energy it has.

“But you have to know how to channel and interpret it,” he added on how the player must improve to be sensible with his on-field decisions to avoid bookings.
