Gianluigi Donnarumma made his debut for Manchester City today and kept a clean sheet as Pep Guardiola’s side dispatched the Red Devils with ease, winning 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Whilst the Italian did not have much to do in the match, he looked reliable when called upon.
An early goal from Phil Foden gave the hosts the lead before a second-half brace from Erling Haaland made it a comfortable three points for City in the end.

Donnarumma was forced into two saves on his debut, one in each half.
The Italian denied Red Devils summer signing Benjamin Sesko’s effort from outside of the box within the first five minutes.
Around the hour mark, the Italian made another save. A better one this time, after a spectacular effort on the volley from Bryan Mbuemo looked to be heading towards the far corner.
Outside of his saves, Donnarumma looked highly competent. He played some nice passes and long balls, whilst also coming out a few times to punch or clear the ball.
Overall, it was a successful debut and the Italian had a much better time than his Manchester United counterpart, Altay Bayindir.

Donnarumma joined the Premier League outfit for a reported fee of around €27 million on Deadline Day.
PSG essentially forced the former Milan shot-stopper out of the club when they opted to sign Lille keeper Lucas Chevalier.
Luis Enrique, head coach at the Parisian side, admitted it was his decision as he felt Chevalier was better suited to the style of play he wanted to employ.
However, Donnarumma was left shocked by the club’s decision, after having played a vital role in the Ligue 1 side’s Champions League glory last season.
The talented goalkeeper made some big saves against the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and in the final against Inter and appeared to feel betrayed by PSG’s actions.
He signed a four-year deal with Manchester City until 2029 and looked delighted to be joining up with legendary coach Pep Guardiola.
