Gianni Infantino defended 2026 World Cup ticket prices on Friday, amid anger from supporters who consider the costs exorbitant.

According to L'Équipe, the FIFA president said the World Cup is the organisation’s main, and so far only, revenue stream. He added that income arrives in one month and is then spent across the remaining 47 until the next tournament.

The 2026 finals will run from 11 June to 19 July across Canada, Mexico and the United States.

He had previously pointed to demand, stating that 150 million ticket requests had been received.

In the latest sales window, which opened in early April, seats for the 19 July final cost several thousand euros.
