Giay has stepped up his recovery and could return for Palmeiras against Atlético-MG on Sunday at 19:30 Brasília time.
According to Globo.com, the right-back joined the team warm-up and is in the final stage of recovery from a right ankle sprain. The club's Health and Performance unit views the progress as positive, however Palmeiras are keeping caution and the Argentine remains a doubt for the next Brasileirão round.
On Friday afternoon the squad worked on technical patterns of passing triangles, crossing and finishing, along with a small-sided game.
Saturday's session will be decisive for Giay and for Vitor Roque and Felipe Anderson, who have been training with the group without restrictions since the squad's return.
If selected, Vitor Roque could make his first appearance in three months. He is coming back from ankle surgery, while Felipe Anderson had oedema in his left thigh and the number seven has been under load management.
Giay's return would also ease a selection issue after Khellven was suspended for his third yellow card against Coritiba. If the Argentine is not included, Abel Ferreira will need an improvised option on the right.
