Oliver Glasner revealed that defender Chris Richards is in a “race against time” to be ready for their Conference League final on Wednesday.
The American international tore two ligaments in his ankle in their 2-2 draw against Brentford and was absent from Palace training on Thursday morning ahead of their UECL final against Rayo Vallecano.
Glasner said that he will miss Palace’s final Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday.
“Chris will miss the Arsenal game,” he said. “And it’s now 50-50 for him, for us that he can play the final.
“He tore I think two ligaments in his ankle, fortunately we have I think four (ligaments) or something, so it’s stable but it’s quite swollen and now we have to deal with the swelling and of course he needs to get back on pitch to be available and it will be really a race against time.”
“He is having treatment from sunrise till sunset and everything we can do that reduces the swelling and of course great medical department, so again we will give our best and he will give his best and then let’s see if we can get it done.”
Although Richards will miss out, one player that could play in the match between Arsenal and Palace is Eberechi Eze. Glasner was full of praise for his former player after he won the Premier League title on Tuesday.
“First of all I want to congratulate Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, his players, staff for huge achievement winning the title after 22 years,” he said. “So it’s a fantastic job they have done and also special congrats to Eberechi, so I think he’s taken the right decision to go to Arsenal and not to another club.”
