Go Ahead Eagles fans honour Carla with giant tifo after 27 years of service | OneFootball

Go Ahead Eagles fans unveiled a giant tifo for Carla, a laundry and kit-room employee of 27 years, during the 0-0 home draw with AZ Alkmaar.

According to L'Équipe, the display recognised her long service and her planned retirement at the end of the season, with the tribute springing a surprise on Thursday night.

In club colours, the tifo pictured Carla smiling, ringed by a series of historic home and away shirts. It also carried a Dutch message thanking her as a club icon.

Carla was in tears as the stadium rose to applaud. The club’s famously creative support again shone a light on the often unseen staff who keep teams running.

The draw leaves the hosts 11th on 37 points after 31 Eredivisie matches, while AZ Alkmaar remain sixth on 79.
