Aston Villa clashed heads with Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a good result on the road in the Premier League. The Villans made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the eighth minute when Victor Lindelof scored an unfortunate own goal. Maxim De Cuyper doubled his team’s advantage in the 18th minute before Jack Hinshelwood scored a quick-fire brace at the hour mark. Joao Gomes was sent off by the referee in the 40th minute as Unai Emery’s men went into the half-time break 4-0 down on the scoreline.

The West Midlands club managed to stop the damage in the second half but suffered a disappointing 4-0 loss at the Amex.
