Gonzalo Plata named in Flamengo squad to face Bragantino | OneFootball

Gonzalo Plata has been named in Flamengo’s squad for Bragantino on Thursday after being omitted for disciplinary reasons against Corinthians.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Plata is already in Atibaia, where Flamengo are based before the Brasileirão fixture, and Uruguayans Varela, De La Cruz and Arrascaeta also arrived ahead of the main delegation from Rio.

The Ecuadorian dominated Flamengo headlines during the international window after archiving photos of himself in the club’s colours, unfollowing the club’s account and saying he felt happier with the national team.

Head coach Leonardo Jardim had excluded him from the Corinthians match, saying the forward’s recent behaviour did not align with standards expected of a Flamengo professional.

Although listed, Plata is expected to start on the bench, having played 90 minutes against Morocco and the Netherlands during the window, the latter on Tuesday, the 31st, leaving little recovery time.

Flamengo face Bragantino in the ninth round of the Brasileirão, with kick-off at 21:30 Brasília time on Thursday, 2 April.
