Leeds United’s first pre-season friendly ended in a 3-2 defeat to Championship side Wrexham in the United States at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Kieffer Moore scored after 31 seconds from a rapid break, and Joel Piroe struck a post from the penalty spot.

Piroe levelled with a tap-in from a Sean Longstaff cross, before Wrexham regained the lead when Bailey Cadamarteri broke clear after Joe Rodon failed to win a halfway tackle.

Leeds equalised again in the 45th minute through a neat Longstaff finish, which seemed likely to settle it. Late on, poor defending on halfway allowed Sam Smith to drive into the box and beat Lucas Perri in the 86th minute.

The report issued player ratings including Alex Cairns five, James Justin six, Joe Rodon four, Alfie Cresswell six, Jayden Lienou six and Dan James six. James used his pace to win the penalty.
