Sunderland Echo reports that, following the victory at the Stadium of Light, Xhaka posted a photo of himself punching the air in Sunderland colours, captioned: “THREE. MORE. POINTS. This team has serious spirit #GX34”. The post was geotagged in Sunderland.

Within 14 hours, the post drew more than 44,400 likes, highlighting both his profile and rising engagement around Sunderland’s return to the Premier League. Supporters piled into the comments to praise his leadership and influence.

Goalscorer Brian Brobbey replied with a run of fire emojis. Dennis Cirkin wrote “Song choice”, a nod to the music on the clip, while left-back Reinildo Mandava added more fire emojis and a heart.

It came after Sunderland recovered from falling behind to take all three points, stretching strong home form and feeding momentum under Régis Le Bris. Xhaka has been a key presence on the pitch and in the dressing room.
