Greater Manchester Police are making enquiries after Manchester City’s Rodri drew complaints from neighbours for flying a drone outside their windows, as per reports.
Rodri is set to travel to Spain as Manchester City progress upon their quest for an unprecedented quadruple and bid to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-final by taking on their familiar European foes in Real Madrid.
The Blues are set to come up against the UEFA Champions League heavyweights for the 12th and 13th times in the last seven seasons over two legs in the coming weeks, having returned to winning ways against Newcastle United in the FA Cup at the weekend.
Pep Guardiola made 10 changes to his starting XI at St. James’ Park as a strike from Savinho and brace from Omar Marmoush helped Manchester City come from behind and progress to the FA Cup quarter-final.
City are expected to see Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Nico O’Reilly form their midfield trio against Alvaro Arbeloa’s side in Madrid, with the hosts missing a series of key attacking names amid a difficult season that saw Xabi Alonso be relieved of his managerial duties in January.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are still competing on four fronts in their first full season under director of football Hugo Viana, who has made sweeping changes to Guardiola’s squad since replacing Txiki Begiristain last summer.
Guardiola and co are due to travel to Madrid on Tuesday and the Catalan manager will preview the first leg in a press conference in the evening, with Manchester City fans eagerly awaiting fitness updates on Erling Haaland, Rico Lewis and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
However, Manchester City’s Real Madrid preparations have drawn some interesting media attention after residents neighbouring Rodri’s penthouse in Salford, Greater Manchester complained about the midfielder to the police for flying a drone outside their windows on Monday evening, as reported by Sun Sport.
A statement by Greater Manchester Police read: “We have received a complaint and officers are making enquiries,” and standard protocol would be for the police to speak with the Manchester City star and ensure he is aware of flying regulations and laws on invasion of privacy in residential areas.
Manchester City offered no comment to The Sun on the matter around the club’s first-ever Ballon d’Or winner, who has recently been charged with a £80,000 fine by the English Football Association for his comments on refereeing decisions going against Manchester City after a controversial 2-2 draw with Tottenham in early February.
