Greene King said its team acted quickly and professionally, reported the incident to police and stressed customer and staff safety is the top priority.

The company said the ticketed event had check-ins, searches and extra security, but some individuals gained access from outside the usual entrances and exits.

West Midlands Police said officers were called on Tuesday night, a knife was recovered and no arrests have yet been made, with footage under review.
