Grêmio have accepted a €12 million offer from Shakhtar Donetsk for midfielder Gabriel Mec, with further add-ons, but any move depends on the player’s approval (R$69.5 million).
According to Globo.com, the bid includes performance-related bonuses and is the only recent formal offer. Grêmio have agreed the terms, although the fee is below their initial expectation. Mec had already expressed a desire to move to Europe in a conversation held in the first half of the year.
Despite that ambition, he has been reluctant to move to Ukraine since last year, when Shakhtar also tried to sign him. The decision now rests with the player and his representatives.
Last year he turned down a €15 million proposal from the same club, preferring other European leagues.
Elsewhere, Grêmio sold defender Viery to Fiorentina for R$88 million fixed, with the total potentially rising to R$100 million if targets are met, and also lost Arthur after he did not renew his contract.
The club have signed defender Wallace and centre-forward Matheus Nascimento, and have an agreement with attacking midfielder Jovane Cabral, who has played at the World Cup for Cabo Verde.
