Leonel Pérez is closing in on his first outing for Grêmio, with the club managing his adaptation after arrival. The midfielder is not registered for the Gauchão and was held back from the last Brasileirão match against Atlético-MG as he adapts to the workload under Luís Castro’s staff.
According to Globo.com, the 21-year-old is on an individual plan with physiotherapy and fitness staff. He has recently worked indoors at CT Luiz Carvalho, including on Wednesday when the squad returned from two days off and he did not go out to train.
In his first days in Porto Alegre he took part in technical and tactical drills on the pitch. Despite the tailored workload, his preparation remains on the original timetable.
The aim is to ready him for the Brazilian calendar and the physical demands of Grêmio’s competitions. The coaching staff intend to have him available for Bragantino next Thursday at the Arena in the fifth round of the Brasileirão.
Pérez arrived having almost completed recovery from a muscle injury sustained at Huracán, his former club, and that issue has now been resolved.
