Grêmio enquire about Atlético-MG midfielder Igor Gomes | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Grêmio have enquired about the situation of Igor Gomes at Atlético-MG, though by Monday afternoon the club had not lodged a formal offer.

Igor Gomes is under contract with Atlético-MG until December and can sign a pre-contract for 2027. Any early release in the second half of the year would need to be negotiated with the club, which is not expected to obstruct a move. Atlético-MG have already informed him they will not renew his deal.

He has not been used by Eduardo Domínguez this year, making only 14 appearances. His last outing came in the 29 April defeat to Cienciano in the Copa Sul-Americana, when he played 45 minutes before being replaced by Alan Minda at half-time.

A São Paulo academy graduate, Igor Gomes joined Atlético-MG in 2023 and has operated in several midfield roles. He prefers to play as a No 10, but has also been deployed as a second midfielder under Sampaoli.

In the attacking role, he is competing with Victor Hugo, Bernard and Gustavo Scarpa, who are Domínguez’s current preferences. In the deeper role, he sits behind Alexsander, Maycon and Cissé.
