Grêmio are working to bring a group back from the treatment room from Thursday, with four recent absentees potentially returning for the decisive Gre-Nais in the Gauchão. According to Globo.com, the plan could hand Luís Castro extra options.
The two nearest are Arthur and Monsalve. Arthur, the captain and holding midfielder, felt muscle discomfort and was rested, but trained on the grass on Thursday. The Colombian has recovered from a left thigh issue and had already been on the pitches at CT Luiz Carvalho before the Atlético-MG match.
Willian and Tetê remain in recovery and have not been seen in full training in club footage. They trail Arthur and Monsalve in the return timeline, yet still have a chance to be cleared in time for the decisive games.
The midfielder has had muscle oedema and is undergoing intensive treatment aimed at the first final. Tetê’s initial recovery window was 10 to 14 days for a right hamstring injury, the shorter estimate lapses on Saturday, a day before the Arena derby.
Grêmio have two training sessions left before Sunday. That gives Castro time to confirm who is fit for the first leg, scheduled for 18h on Sunday at the Arena.
