Grêmio set Chapecoense friendly, in talks over July clash with Cruzeiro | OneFootball

Grêmio are lining up July friendlies during the Brasileirão’s World Cup pause. A Chapecoense game is set for five July in Sinop, Mato Grosso, and talks continue over facing Cruzeiro on 12 July in Belo Horizonte.

According to Globo.com, the Chapecoense fixture is agreed in principle and awaits only the contract signing, while the Cruzeiro date remains unconfirmed.

Before July, the club have a training game against Cascavel on 27 June in the interior of Paraná.

Cruzeiro owner Pedro Lourenço has close ties with Celso Rigo, a supporter of Grêmio’s current board who helps to finance the club.

A mooted friendly tournament in Brasília featuring Corinthians and Flamengo has not progressed.

The squad returned to work on Wednesday at CT Luiz Carvalho. Grêmio also confirmed Arthur’s exit after the parties failed to reach a financial agreement.
