Grêmio set to buy Tetê on four-year deal as formalities remain | OneFootball

Grêmio are set to buy Tetê on a four-year contract, with only bureaucratic details remaining before the deal is announced.

According to Globo.com, the club initially pursued a loan but talks with Panathinaikos, who hold the forward’s rights, did not progress.

Negotiations moved forward on Friday under new terms, with the parties already in an agreement in principle. Financial terms have not been confirmed.

The 25-year-old came through Grêmio’s academy and was sold to Shakhtar Donetsk in 2019, without a senior appearance, for R$ 42 million. In Ukraine he played under Luís Castro, now in charge at Grêmio.

Tetê later featured for Lyon, Leicester, Galatasaray in Türkiye, and Panathinaikos in Greece. For the Greek club he has played 27 matches this season, scoring two goals with seven assists. Last season he made 49 appearances, scoring 11 with three assists.
