Grêmio sign Matheus Nascimento on four-year deal from Botafogo | OneFootball

Grêmio have signed 22-year-old centre-forward Matheus Nascimento on a four-year contract. The club said in a statement that the striker joins after a deal with Botafogo, where he was under contract until the end of the year.

A Botafogo debt to Grêmio linked to Nathan Fernandes and Cuiabano was used as credit in the agreement.

Nascimento arrives from LA Galaxy in the United States, where he had been on loan from Botafogo since March 2025. He made 38 appearances, scoring seven and supplying three assists. This year he featured in 10 matches, nine as a substitute, and scored once.

A Botafogo academy graduate, he debuted for the first team in 2020 and played 96 times before the loan, with limited minutes in Brazil. He scored 12 goals for the senior side. Between 2022 and 2023 he worked under Luís Castro at Botafogo, the Portuguese coach now in charge at Grêmio.

He is Grêmio’s second mid-season addition, after centre-back Wallace from CRB. The move strengthens a forward line that recently lost André Henrique, sold to Goztepe of Türkiye. Nascimento will compete with Carlos Vinicius, the current starter, and Braithwaite.
