Grêmio are weighing up a move for Vasco left-back Lucas Piton, with a potential swap featuring midfielder Dodi under discussion.

Hora do Grêmio reports that discussions remain at an early, internal stage and no formal proposal or paperwork has reached Vasco.

Dodi has emerged as the leading makeweight being considered to offset Vasco’s high valuation, with Grêmio looking to balance any fee by offering an established top-flight player.

Even so, a deal is seen as highly complex given Vasco’s hard line. The Rio club typically demand significant compensation to even contemplate parting with key squad members. Piton is under a long-term contract and regarded as a major asset.

Any progress hinges on an official offer that satisfies Vasco’s sporting and financial priorities for the year. Until then, Piton continues his daily work at the club, competing for a starting place after recently losing his spot to Cuiabano.

Dodi, 29, is a Paraná-born midfielder developed at Criciúma. He won a state title with Fluminense, had a stint at Santos, then joined Grêmio in early 2024, surpassing 100 appearances by the end of last year. He is noted for intense ball-winning and quick transitions.
