Grêmio ‘to seek’ loan for Matías Moreno from Fiorentina | OneFootball

Grêmio are in talks to take Argentine centre-back Matías Moreno, 22, on loan from Fiorentina.

According to Globo.com, the Brazilian club want a loan, while Fiorentina prefer a permanent sale. Moreno is right-footed but can also play on the left of defence, and featured for Levante last season.

Grêmio’s backline was weakened by the June sale of Viery to Fiorentina. Meanwhile, Wagner Leonardo, a left-sided option, is in negotiations over a return to Vitória. The hierarchy are therefore seeking cover.

Moreno stands 1.93 metres and came through at Belgrano in Argentina.

He joined Fiorentina in August 2024 on a contract running until 2029. The move cost about 5.5 million euros plus roughly 1.5 million euros in bonuses, with Belgrano retaining 10 per cent of his economic rights.
