Grêmio’s first half of 2026 mixed a state title and Copa do Brasil progress with poor returns in the Sudamericana and Brasileirão, but only one of six recruits convinced. The rest remain under review or have disappointed.
According to Globo.com, the new board oversaw an overhaul with 21 departures and six arrivals, despite financial strain. Close to R$ 100 million was spent, with Nardoni and Tetê viewed as the biggest investments in the club’s history.
Weverton is a clear success, an undisputed starter who has steadied the position. Called into Brazil’s World Cup squad by Carlo Ancelotti, he has played 32 games, conceded 30, recorded one assist and kept 14 clean sheets.
Enamorado is under assessment after a February move worth about three million dollars from Junior de Barranquilla. Rotating with Tetê on the right, he offered pace and dribbling more than standout moments. He has 31 games, one goal and four assists.
Leo Pérez is also under review, earning a starting role late on as a fixed holding midfielder. He has shown limits in possession but strong screening in front of the defence.
For now, Nardoni is rated a disappointment. The Argentine cost eight million dollars and arrived as the club’s biggest outlay, yet has offered little.
Tetê, bought for six million euros after coming through the academy, has likewise made minimal impact to date.
Caio Paulista, on loan from Palmeiras to back up Marlon, has been sparingly used by Luís Castro, with 16 appearances in the first six months.
