GSS investment in Montpellier nearing agreement | OneFootball

Montpellier HSC are closing in on an agreement with English investment fund GSS, with the shape of the deal still undecided.

According to L'Équipe, talks have advanced significantly and a deal could be finalised within 72 hours. The club has courted fresh capital for months to bolster its finances and sporting plan, and cleared the DNCG last week.

Dialogue between the parties was established through American Daniel Karbassiyoon, 41, a former player with Arsenal, Burnley and Ipswich Town in the 2000s.

One possibility is a full takeover, which would end the Nicollin family’s presence at the club. The family co-founded Montpellier in 1974 with Bernard Gasset, father of Jean-Louis.

Alternatively, GSS could take a minority stake in the shareholding. Montpellier finished eighth in Ligue 2 last season.
