Guardia Civil investigate alleged Real Sociedad fans’ van intimidation of Atlético motorhome | OneFootball

The Guardia Civil in Badajoz have opened an investigation after an Atlético de Madrid supporter reported alleged harassment and dangerous driving by three vans carrying Real Sociedad fans on the A-5 near Mérida while returning from the Copa del Rey final.

The group were travelling in a motorhome displaying a Spain flag and the Atlético crest. One occupant, Sandra, said three black vans, which by their appearance could have been hire vehicles, boxed them in for about 10 minutes.

She said the vans made abrupt swerves and reckless manoeuvres apparently to force them off the road. At one point a side door was opened to shout at them and order them to stop. Sandra later posted videos on X, formerly Twitter, calling for action from the Guardia Civil.

“It was shameful.” She told Tiempo de Juego on Cadena COPE that “we were terrified and had to pull into a service road so they could pass.”

The group called the Guardia Civil during the incident and provided the number plates of the vans, but Sandra felt the response was insufficient, saying officers could have reached them despite the traffic.

She remains ready to file a complaint. The Badajoz force is examining potential dangerous driving and harassment on a public road, and the exact time is still to be established. No arrests or formal identifications have been made.

The incident came only hours after the Copa del Rey final in Sevilla, where Real Sociedad were crowned champions against Atlético de Madrid.
