Pep Guardiola believes his Manchester City team is not far from reaching our peak.
The City boss has seen his squad refreshed in recent seasons following a sustained period of huge success at the Etihad.
With several new signings and players from the Academy coming into the squad, a new-look City have a chance to win their first piece of silverware in the Carabao Cup on Sunday.
Premier League leaders Arsenal stand in the way at Wembley at 16:30 (UK) and ahead of the final, Guardiola said he was happy with the development of the side.
“I have the feeling in many things we’re just underneath [our peak],” he said in his pre-match news conference.
“We will flourish, I have the feeling that it’s close.
“Other things we need a little more time until the people realise what we need to be strong in many departments but in most things we are close.”
City head to the capital on the back of a frustrating result in the Champions League as we were eliminated by Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The Carabao Cup final is our first opportunity for silverware while we are also fighting Arsenal for the Premier League title as well as securing a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
For Guardiola, battling for trophies underlines the strength and quality of his squad.

“That’s why I have the feeling we are close [to our best],” the boss added.
“Maybe for the type of players that we have, what we really need is to be consistent for 11 months and in important games.
“As much for the quality of the players that we have, the gap is still not close but in many aspects we are extraordinary.
“Otherwise we wouldn’t be top eight in the Champions League, we would not be second in the Premier League, in the final of the Carabao Cup, the quarter-finals in the FA Cup, we wouldn’t be there in nine months.
“When we won a lot in the past, always I know what we need exactly and in many things we just need a little bit more time.”
We’re all set for a cup classic in this year’s quarter-final, as Premier League champions Liverpool come to the Etihad on Saturday 4 April.
