Gudelj and Alexis Sánchez on different paths at Sevilla | OneFootball

Sevilla have confirmed captain Nemanja Gudelj will depart on 30 June after seven seasons, and have opened talks to keep Alexis Sánchez next season.

Sporting director Juan Ignacio Navarro said they are in talks to reach an agreement that suits both sides.

Gudelj leaves having become the club’s fifth most used foreign player, with 261 appearances, and with Europa League wins in 2020 in Cologne and 2023 in Budapest.

Retaining Alexis has become a priority after his late-season influence helped secure survival and underlined his value as an impact option.

The Chilean played 1,400 minutes across 30 matches, contributing four goals and two assists.

Gudelj’s exit creates a leadership gap that Sevilla will look to fill from within the squad. The presidency has set a course of generational change and a reduced wage bill to sustain the project.

With Juan Iglesias and Jon Guridi already confirmed as early additions, attention now turns to balancing the squad list for a demanding window ahead.
