Bayer Leverkusen will be without Guéla Doué indefinitely after the defender sustained a muscle injury in his right calf, the club said this evening.

The Côte d'Ivoire international was hurt during Tuesday's training session on 15 September, while the squad prepared for their Europa League clash with Slovenian champions NK Celje.

An MRI scan carried out on Wednesday afternoon by the Rhineland club's medical staff confirmed the setback.

The 23-year-old will not be available to Spanish head coach Carles Martinez in the coming weeks.

The injury also likely rules him out of Côte d'Ivoire's African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ghana on 24 September and Somalia on 29 September.
