Corinthians visit Grêmio in Porto Alegre on Saturday at 17:30 in the 18th round of the Brasileirão. Meu Timao notes that the fixture offers 19-year-old Gui Negão a chance to make his first appearance under Fernando Diniz.
The centre-forward has not played since early April, when Diniz arrived. His last outing was on 22 March, a 12-minute cameo in a 1-1 draw with Flamengo at Neo Química Arena under Dorival Júnior.
He then joined Brazil’s under-20 squad for friendlies in the FIFA window, but suffered a grade 2 strain at the back of his right thigh during preparation. The injury sidelined him until the start of this month.
Named in the squad again on 3 May, he stayed on the bench in a 2-1 defeat to Mirassol at Maião. Over the next seven matches, he was among the substitutes in four and omitted from three. He was left out again for Wednesday’s 2-0 loss to Argentina’s Platense at Casa do Povo, the final round of the Libertadores group stage.
In Porto Alegre, Diniz faces attacking absences. Kayke and Vitinho are injured, Memphis Depay is with the Netherlands at the World Cup, and Jesse Lingard has been excused for personal reasons.
Wearing number 56 and a classic Filho do Terrão, Gui Negão was promoted by Dorival in July 2025, became a starter during a striker shortage and scored key goals in the Copa do Brasil title run, earning an improved deal through 30 June 2030. In 2026 his form dipped, and his opportunities dwindled. He has 36 appearances for Corinthians, 21 starts, with 16 wins, 14 draws, six defeats, plus six goals and two assists.
