Guilherme says goodbye at Santos as Houston Dynamo deal agreed | OneFootball

Guilherme visited CT Rei Pelé and Vila Belmiro to bid farewell to Santos team-mates and staff after his transfer to Houston Dynamo was agreed.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the forward is moving for 2 million dollars, with Santos entitled to 50% of the fee. He vacates the number 11 shirt after breaking into the club’s top 100 scorers and received a commemorative plaque from the board.

In a farewell message he thanked supporters for their affection, apologised if he upset anyone and said he was emotional. He added that Santos will stay in his heart and that he loves the fans.

Signed in December 2023 from Grêmio, he was among the leading scorers and key figures in Serie B in his first year. Last season he struck the club’s historic 13,000th goal, stayed among the top scorers, but suffered injury and fluctuating form and was booed at Vila Belmiro.

He departs with 28 goals in 95 games. Born in São Paulo, he debuted professionally for São José-RS in 2015 and has also played for Botafogo, Chapecoense, Coritiba, Sport, Grêmio, Fortaleza, Al-Faisaly of Saudi Arabia and Al Dhafra of the United Arab Emirates.
