Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy ‘dreams’ of playing in the Premier League and possesses a release clause in his contract in Germany.

Guirassy is the leading scorer in the Champions League this season and hit a hat-trick in Dortmund’s 3-1 win over Barcelona this week. The Guinea international has had an excellent debut campaign at Dortmund, following his move from Stuttgart last summer.

Guirassy has scored 28 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions, including a tournament-high 13 in 14 Champions League games.

The 29-year-old was linked with English clubs last summer, before moving to Dortmund in a deal worth just €18m (£15.4m). Premier League sides overlooked Guirassy despite that bargain release clause in last summer’s window. However, interest could be renewed in the player.

According to German outlet BILD, Guirassy has a release clause of €70m (£60.1m) in his contract at the Westfalenstadion. Dortmund will be unable to stand in the striker’s way should a side match that clause. Guirassy, meanwhile, is understood to harbour ambitions of playing in the Premier League.

After a modest and nomadic early career, Guirassy has exploded over the last two campaigns. He finished as runner-up to Harry Kane as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer last season and has netted 58 goals in 70 appearances for Stuttgart and Dortmund since the start of last season.

His 13 goals in the Champions League this season are a competition record for an African player in a single campaign. No Dortmund player has also ever scored more Champions League goals in a single season, with Guirassy surpassing the previous landmark of 10 held by Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland.
