Two players who could depart Sheffield United before the 2 February deadline
Sheffield United have not enjoyed the kind of season that supporters would’ve been hoping for during the summer.
The Blades missed out on promotion with a play-off final loss to Sunderland, and their aim was to go one step further and win their return to the Premier League at just the second attempt.
But Chris Wilder’s side are now outsiders to earn a play-off place, and will need a very strong second half of the season in order to retain their position inside the top six.
The January transfer window offers a chance to reshape the squad in order to aid that aim, but it also opens the door for some players to leave the club amid this disappointing standing in the Championship.
Here we look at two Sheffield United players who will surely be eyeing an exit from Bramall Lane ahead of the 2 February deadline…

Gustavo Hamer has been a crucial figure for Sheffield United since joining the club in the 2023 summer transfer window from Coventry City.
The midfielder initially arrived following the Blades’ promotion to the Premier League, and he has been an ever-present part of the side since then.
However, there is now uncertainty surrounding his future at Bramall Lane, with Turkish side Trabzonspor reportedly interested in signing the Dutchman.
It’s been claimed that the Yorkshire outfit are leaving the door open for a potential sale due to Hamer’s contract expiring in June 2027, giving him just 18 months left at the club.
While Hamer is a key figure in Chris Wilder’s side, and it would be a blow to lose him, this January could be the time for them to cash in on this interest.
The 28-year-old remains an impressive player, but his performances have seen a drop in quality this year compared to his first two seasons at Bramall Lane.
And the opportunity to compete at a top flight level in Turkey could be quite appealing for the attacking midfielder, so a move this month could very well be on the cards as an ideal solution to suit all parties.

Ryan Oné signed for Sheffield United in the summer of 2023 as well but, unlike Hamer, he has struggled for regular game time since then.
The forward has made a total of just a handful of appearances in the Championship so far this season, coming off the bench on each occasion.
He has been unable to prove to Wilder that he deserves a place in the lineup on a consistent basis, and the 19-year-old needs to be playing regularly in order to continue his development.
A loan move would be a great prospect for the player and the club, as the Blades have attacking options to make do without him for the rest of the season.
The emergence of Patrick Bamford as a member of the squad has seen the youngster fall even further down the pecking order.
At 19, the player is far from a lost cause, and there is no need to rush into a permanent exit before the 2 February deadline.
