Gustavo Gómez has been honoured with a dedicated space in Palmeiras’ Trophy Museum. According to Globo.com, the 33-year-old Paraguayan became the club’s most decorated player on 8 March with 13 titles, and he has been at the club since 2018 with a contract to December 2027.

He watched a tribute video in silence for about a minute, arms folded behind his back and jaw set, before offering a nervous smile. Head coach Abel Ferreira, seated in the front row, joked that he could cry.

The new display features a panel of images and personal items. They include a shirt worn in the 2021 Copa do Brasil final, a boot from the Paulista final, the flag he used to celebrate the Recopa title, and a captain’s armband.

Gómez said he feels he has found his place and thanked Palmeiras for helping him grow daily as a father, son and athlete. He added that there is still more to give and, if God wills, the team will try to add trophies this year while continuing to write the club’s story.

He also reflected that being a champion is about more than lifting silverware, it is about rising after defeat and not giving up. After the ceremony he took questions, and his tally for Palmeiras now stands at 408 matches, 46 goals and 12 assists.
