Gustavo Gómez will make his 400th appearance for Palmeiras in Sunday's Campeonato Brasileiro derby against Corinthians, according to Nosso Palestra. The captain has been at the club since 2018 and is the longest-serving member of the current squad.

He becomes one of the few recent players to hit the milestone, after Dudu in 2022 and goalkeeper Weverton.

Gómez is the club's third most-used centre-back, behind Valdemar Carabina on 593 and Luís Pereira on 576.

With 45 goals, he is Palmeiras' highest-scoring defender. In the current squad only Flaco López has more, with 66.

He also holds a club-record 13 titles, ahead of a group on 12. As captain he has lifted 10 trophies, leading that list too.

Alongside Murilo, his likely partner on Sunday, he has played 130 games for 80 wins, 32 draws and 18 defeats. The pair have kept 62 clean sheets and conceded 94.

On Wednesday he reached 81 Copa Libertadores appearances for Palmeiras, one more than Weverton. It is his ninth campaign, matching Mayke, and he has started 80 of those. A two-time continental champion, he has scored 14 times, making him Palmeiras' third-highest Libertadores scorer and the competition's top-scoring defender.
