Gustavo Henrique now third top-scoring defender for Corinthians this decade

Corinthians faced Botafogo last Sunday afternoon (30), at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the 36th round of the Brazilian Championship and ended up drawing with a score of 2 x 2. The second goal for Timão was scored by defender Gustavo Henrique, who reached an impressive milestone.

The number 13 became the third defender with the most goals for Corinthians this decade, scoring six times, the same number achieved by Raul Gustavo, a defender developed in Timão's youth categories who left the club permanently in 2024, heading to Ferencváros in Hungary, and currently plays for New York City.

Ahead of Gustavo Henrique and Raul Gustavo and in second place in the ranking is Gil, with seven goals. The experienced defender left Timão at the end of 2023 after his contract ended. The leader of the list is Cacá, the current teammate of number 13, with eight goals.

Gustavo Henrique is one of the main highlights of Corinthians this season and has established himself as the most consistent defender in the squad. In 2025, the defender played 34 games, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

According to Sofascore, a statistics app, in the current season, the defender maintains a 90% pass accuracy, 70% efficiency in duels, 77% efficiency in aerial duels, 219 clearances, 312 defensive actions (an average of 9.2 per game), and 12 dribbles suffered (an average of 0.35 per game), accounting for the second-highest average rating in the squad with 7.27.

Near the end of his second year at Corinthians, Gustavo Henrique has already played 70 games for the club, starting 66 of them, in addition to scoring six goals and providing two assists. The defender was a starter for the team in winning the 2025 Paulista Championship, where Alvinegro Paulista defeated arch-rival Palmeiras in the final. His contract with the club is valid until December 2027.
