Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres is already making his mark in North London after moving to the Emirates Stadium for big money.

Gyokeres has scored goals for the Gunners while impressing with his relentless mentality, which has blown away staff and teammates at Colney.

The Arsenal striker arrived in North London this summer with plenty of scepticism over whether his powerful, direct style would suit the Gunners.

But since day one, insiders say Gyokeres’ sheer determination, drive and willingness to improve have stood out as some of the best they’ve seen.

Extra training sessions, long hours in the gym and constant work on finishing drills have been a part and parcel of his first weeks as a Gunner.

Coaches describe a player who thrives on proving doubters wrong, one who responds to every challenge by pushing even harder.

“Unshakeable belief” has been a recurring phrase from those around him. That attitude is already translating on the pitch.

Gyokeres has scored three times in his opening four Premier League matches, including a poacher’s effort in the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates.

For a player who missed part of pre-season while forcing through his move from Sporting CP, it is an early return that suggests much more to come for Mikel Arteta’s side.

His Champions League pedigree was reportedly a massive reason why the Gunners pursued his signature this summer.

A hat-trick for Sporting against Manchester City last year showcased his ability at the very highest level.

He also delivered a battling display against Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba in the same competition, convincing scouts he had the fight for English football.

As Arsenal prepare to take on Athletic Bilbao tomorrow in the Champions League, Gyokeres will play a crucial role if the Gunners are to leave Spain with a point.

Gyokeres’ journey from Brighton & Hove Albion, including his loans and subsequent breakout at Coventry, and then 97 goals in 102 games at Sporting, has forged a striker with resilience and hunger.

And if his early weeks are anything to go by, that tireless mentality may prove just as valuable as his goals.
