Brazil face Norway in the World Cup last 16 on Sunday at 17:00 in the New York/New Jersey Stadium, and Erling Haaland is well known to Corinthians defender André Ramalho, his former Red Bull Salzburg team-mate.

Haaland played for Salzburg in 2018-2019 before Manchester City. Ramalho was in a second spell after 2012-2015 and was a leading figure in the squad.

"He arrived at Red Bull Salzburg super young and did not play in those first six months. Then our number nine left, the chance fell to him and he exploded, game after game scoring," he told UOL’s De Primeira in 2023. "He even hit a first-half hat-trick as the club’s first Champions League goal."

"There was always the question whether he could prove himself at a higher level like Dortmund. He showed it immediately there and now at City, he is extremely professional, focused and a great lad. He deserves this success."

Another link came in 2020 when Haaland posted an Instagram video wearing a Corinthians shirt while thanking fans for gifts. The clip went viral among the Fiel and still resurfaces around his standout displays.

For Salzburg he recorded 29 goals and four assists in 27 games. With Norway he has 60 goals and six assists in 53 matches since 2019, five at the World Cup, placing him third, one behind Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé.
