Despite only arriving in February, Habib Beye is unlikely to be the manager of Olympique de Marseille next season, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Beye replaced Roberto De Zerbi in February, with the club fourth in Ligue 1 and within touching distance of the podium. After a defeat to FC Lorient on Saturday, OM are now sixth in the league, and there are already murmurings of discontent in the dressing room.
There are four games remaining for OM to get back into the Champions League qualification places. In any case, L’Équipe understands that it is highly unlikely that Beye will be on the touchline at the Vélodrome next season.
The former Stade Rennais manager has sought to bring a positive attitude in recent days, following the defeat to Lorient (2-0) and the harsh words from Medhi Benatia that ensued. But Benatia will leave his role as sporting director at the end of the season, there will be winds of change, and Beye is not expected to be spared. His contract, which runs until 2027, is not expected to reach its term.
