Hamburg remain hopeful of signing Fábio Vieira permanently, but any deal hinges on Arsenal reducing their asking price, according to Sport Bild.

HSV explored a permanent move after the Portuguese midfielder impressed on loan last season.

Negotiations have stalled over valuation, with HSV targeting a fee below €10 million while Arsenal want significantly more.

New sporting director Kathleen Krüger has acknowledged that a player of Vieira’s calibre sits in a price bracket beyond HSV’s usual range.

Vieira no longer appears to have a future at Arsenal and is expected to leave. Even so, the Gunners are likely to wait to see if higher bidders emerge than HSV.
