Hansi Flick equals personal best La Liga record at Barcelona after Espanyol win | OneFootball

Barcelona’s 2-0 victory over Espanyol last weekend carried far greater significance than just Joan Garcia’s emotional return to the RCDE Stadium. 

Emphatically, the result also brought Hansi Flick level with his own best-ever winning streak in La Liga since taking charge of Barcelona.

That win marked Barcelona’s ninth consecutive league victory, equalling the run Flick achieved between January and March 2025. 

This means if the Blaugrana manage to defeat Real Sociedad on January 18, the German coach will set a new personal benchmark at the club.

Strong run of form

Barcelona’s current league momentum is nothing short of remarkable. 

Following their 1–2 defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, Flick’s side have responded in the most convincing way possible by winning every league match since.

The recovery began with a controlled 3-1 victory over Elche, before Barcelona shifted through the gears with attacking authority. 

They dismantled Celta Vigo 4-2 and overwhelmed Athletic Club 4-0, showing both flair and ruthless efficiency.

A further 3-0 win over Elche reinforced their dominance.

December proved equally productive. Barcelona opened the month with a statement 3–1 win over Atletico Madrid, followed by commanding victories against Real Betis, Osasuna, and Villarreal. 

The latest success against Espanyol completed the nine-match streak and cemented Barcelona’s position at the top of the table.

Beyond the numbers, the feeling around the club is one of confidence and clarity. 

For now, La Liga is briefly set aside as Barcelona turn their attention to the Spanish Super Cup. 

It represents the first real opportunity of the season to lift silverware and further validate the progress made under Flick. 

With momentum on their side, the Blaugrana head into the competition determined to keep the accelerator pressed and continue delivering joy to their supporters.
