Barcelona have extended head coach Hansi Flick’s deal by two years, keeping him at the club until 2028 after securing the Spanish title.
According to Le Progres, uncertainty over his future has ended, with the German’s previous contract due to expire this summer. Fresh from Sunday’s Clasico win, the agreement arrives at the end of a championship-winning campaign.
Flick arrived in Catalonia after leading Bayern Munich and the Germany national team. He lost his father shortly before the Clasico. On the pitch, he has delivered two Liga titles in two seasons, plus two Spanish Super Cups and one Copa del Rey.
Explaining his decision, Flick said recent days confirmed to him that he is in the right place. He added that it is time to keep winning and to try again for the Champions League, and he thanked the club for its trust.
Europe remains the outstanding target for Barcelona. Their campaign this season ended against Atletico Madrid, with scorelines of 0-2 and 2-1. Team-mates of Lamine Yamal are chasing a trophy last lifted in 2015, while Flick, a 2020 winner with Bayern, wants to experience that success again.
